Default Installing Resin on Amazon EC2 instance

I searched around for an Amazon EC2 Ubuntu stack with resin 4.0.23 already installed but found none. So I tried to add resin to a Ubuntu 10.10 instance.

First in Ubuntu 10.10 using FileZilla I downloaded /etc/apt/sources.list to be amended.

I added these lines to sources.list .. and uploaded the revised sources.list to the EC2 instance so that I could use command

sudo apt-get install resin

from Ubuntu terminal.

# lines added to sources list
# installation of caucho resin
# read instructions here .. http://wiki.caucho.com/Resin_Installation

deb http://caucho.com/download/debian/ unstable universe
deb http://caucho.com/download/debian/ unstable multiverse

I then logged into ubuntu

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install resin

but resin installation fails with this error shown in the terminal ..

Setting up resin (4.0.23) ...
/usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d: 446: /etc/init.d/resin: not found
invoke-rc.d: initscript resin, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing resin (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127
Errors were encountered while processing:
resin

...

I've read this blog but it is a bit off target and refers to installing WordPress

http://blog.caucho.com/2009/04/06/us...th-amazon-ec2/

...

Are there any easier instructions for installation of resin 4.0.23 on an EC2 instance of Ubuntu 10.10?

When will caucho release a Resin/Ubuntu stack for Amazon AWS?

Default SOLVED .. installed java-6-sun in Ubuntu 10.10

The solution is posted in this postscript thread ..

http://forum.caucho.com/showthread.php?t=28410

In resin-4.0.23 /etc/init.d/resin contains this ..

JAVA_HOME="/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun"
RESIN_HOME="/usr/share/resin"
CONSOLE="/var/log/resin/console.log

So resin-4.0.23 expects java-6-sun ... but Ubuntu-10.10 installs java-6-openjdk

In Ubuntu ensure that you first install java-6-sun to build resin-4.0.23 in the EC2 Ubuntu instance.

This should be fixed in the 4.0.24 release.
