View Full Version : org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The prefix "c" for element "c:if" is not bound.

Mac OS X 10.5.8
Java 6
Resin 3.1.6

Attempting to view my web application that has been deployed locally on my machine I see the following appear in the browser :

org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The prefix "c" for element "c:if" is not bound.

The jstl jar files that are included in my web application are dated from 2004, and I don't know if they might conflict with the ones in the Resin directory. But I haven't included any xml parser jar files with my web application.

I'm grateful for any advice regarding how to resolve this. Thanks.

We no longer support this Resin version. It included its own XML parser, which we also no longer ship.

After doing more research on this topic I discovered that in fact my version of jstl was unnecessarily out of date. I have upgraded to version jstl 1.2. Further, I didn't realize that jstl is part of Java EE 5, and that using a more current edition of Resin, like 3.1.6, I don't need to bundle the jar files with my web application.

I found this link helpful..

It instructs me to update the declarations. For example :

<%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
<%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>

The current 1.2 version jars can be found here

So having updated everything the problem appears to have been resolved.

Hi Reza, I came back in and responded to each of my posts in the three threads that I created and I clearly must not have refreshed the browser because I honestly didn't see any of your replies when I posted my follow up. So I apologize if I showed no regard for your effort to help in each of my posts. Thank you though for taking the time to post. I appreciate it.
