I downloaded Quercus source in hopes of contributing to the project by cleaning up some issues in the bug tracker.

However, I'm having trouble compiling the jar from the source I extracted (ie, 6,003 errors, 3,780 warnings).

Can somebody help walk me through the steps to compile the Quercus project/setup my environment for Quercus development?

Just check out the sources from the SVN Repository (the resin repository, not the quercus one).

then simply execute

ant

in the checked out folder.

Thanks. I actually figured that out the night that I made this thread.

It's a little inconvenient to have to compile Resin just to be able to compile Quercus. Is this going to be changed in future releases?

probably not, because they share a huge code base. You can however only compile quercus after you have compiled everything else at least once.

do this once
ant

after that, just quercus
ant quercus
