View Full Version : Quercus and Android OS

I am looking to use Quercus on an Android phone, which uses Java, to code applications in PHP, using Java only when interacting with the phone's Java API.

Is there a means of running PHP code on an Android phone using Quercus?

All of the documentation is limited to running Quercus on Resin, but I'm looking for a more direct use of Quercus on an Android phone, a use as a PHP interpreter for Android applications, all while using the benefits of Quercus to marry PHP and Java, so the stock Android APIs can remain in Java, yet fully accessible in PHP.

The benefits for this approach are obvious, where the millions of PHP developers such as myself can write powerful applications in a language we know well all while remaining true to the Java base and APIs of the Android OS.

You can use the javax.script API to run Quercus, but that API is very limited.

For the upcoming 4.0.2 release, we're adding a command line interface to Quercus.
